Program Description

Event Details

Have you ever wanted to learn how to live off the land, what was safe to eat and what ISN'T? Have you wondered if the plants and fungi growing around you had any uses? Wanted to explore new food options or looking to become more sustainable and give back to your ecosystem? Join local Nantucketer, Sean Allen, as we offer a crash course on methods for safely foraging for wild sourced foods from native and invasive species on the island. Registration is required: Limited Seating. AGES 14 and UP

Sean Allen was born and raised on Nantucket and has always had a love of the natural world and its many components.  During lockdown of the Covid pandemic, Allen took the time to investigate ways of practicing sustainability and reciprocity within Nantucket's natural spaces, looking to foraging as a means of ecology, culture and food liberation. In doing so, Sean has reaped an abundance of knowledge and is still learning so much about the beautiful ecosystems of our island and beyond. Sean's fascination with wild foods, permaculture and social justice continue to grow and they look forward to sharing some of their knowledge with you during this workshop
