The NiSHA HEArt Art project and exhibition returns for its sixth year after a two year break. HEArt stands for Humane Education Art. Children from different island camps as well as individuals are invited to create a humane education-inspired piece of art using canvases provided by NiSHA. Children can choose from a theme of their choice - from a pet to a special animal cause or an animal from a favorite book. HEArt gives children of all ages a chance to think with compassion about the animals in their lives and then to create a piece of art that shares this compassionate outlook with others. All the canvases are displayed for a week in the Weezie Library and at the end of the week there will be an art reception where canvases can be picked up and certificates and gifts will be given to the artists. This year the canvases will be on display from August 6th -13th with the reception on Saturday, August 13th from 10-11:30am.
