Home for the Holidays, a comedy-drama about a dysfunctional family at Thanksgiving, was released in 1995 and is Jodie Foster's directing debut. In the film, Claudia Larson (Holly Hunter) decides to go home to Chicago to spend Thanksgiving with her family after losing her job, kissing her ex-boss, and finding out that her daughter has plans of her own.
The film features an ensemble cast, including: Hunter, Robert Downey Jr., Anne Bancroft, Charles Durning, Dylan McDermott, Geraldine Chaplin, Steve Guttenberg, Cynthia Stevenson, Claire Danes, Austin Pendleton, and David Strathairn.
