Icelandic Folk Tales by Geir Konráð Theodórsson

Geir Konráð is an Icelandic storyteller that loves to share with the world the creepy, yet loving, traditional folktales his grandma told him on cold winter nights. He was perhaps a bit too young when he first heard about the mother of the thirteen santas in Iceland, a man eating troll called Grýla, and how her black cat could squeeze down chimneys or through keyholes to hunt down naughty children - but for grandma, frightening little Geir and the other grandkids was just part of getting into the Holiday spirit. After all, that's what her grandma had done to her so many years ago, and the other grandmas in the past all the way to the age of the Vikings.

December is upon us and you are all invited to come enjoy a bit of traditional storytelling from your icy island neighbours up in the north. Hear about Doorslammer, Spoonlicker, Meathook and all the other delightful Santa-trolls of Iceland, learn how to avoid being hunted down by the Yule-cat - and perhaps we can all get into the Holiday spirit by hearing what happens to those that dabble in forbidden magic at Christmas.

For those that think themselves a bit too young for these stories, know that these stories have been performed for kids in many countries all over the world and that each time Geir adapts the storytelling intensity to the age of the audience, and even makes some of the stories have a happy ending.
