Come observe the sun with Maria Mitchell astronomers!

Join Maria Mitchell Association astronomers to observe the only star in our solar system: our Sun! This program will highlight the Sun and include opportunities for participants to safely view sunspots, solar prominences, and other dynamic activity around the Sun’s surface. We will set up solar telescopes in the Atheneum’s garden during the afternoon for participants to look through, and will have other hands-on activities and crafts for visitors to enjoy as they talk with astronomers about all of the exciting things happening on our Sun. This event is subject to ideal weather conditions and may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather. Be sure to call the Maria Mitchell Association or the Atheneum on the day of the program to confirm the status of the event.
