Do you have a story to tell? Join Francesca Sobrer for this three-day workshop, where you will have the chance to craft and practice your story and then share it with a live audience in the Great Hall on Thursday, August 4.
DAY #2
We will dig in a little deeper, digging for details, raising the stakes of our story. Again, using provided prompts*, we will play with story structure. What happens to the story when we start in the middle, the end?
Francesca Sobrer: Storyteller, actor, writer, teacher and director, Francesca has been practicing the art of storytelling her entire career, whether as an actress on stage in Midwest regional theatres or as a teacher and director for Bloomington North Theatre helping others craft their own stories. Quite a few of her own stories begin on Nantucket Island where she was raised and where her mother, Margaret Hitchcock, was the original proprietress of Something Natural. Presently, Sobrer is based in the lovely windy city, Chicago and is very much an active member of the storytelling and theatre scene. Theatre credits include The Glass Menagerie, Ada and the Engine (Cardinal Stage), Sans Merci, Home (Bloomington Playwrights Project), and Masterclass, (Timeline Theatre). Sobrer works with actors and storytellers to help them develop the story they want to tell. A three-time MothStorySLAM winner, Sobrer has told stories for Back Yard Story, Story Lab, This Much is True, Soul Stories, South Specific, Soul Serenade, First Person Live and Homewood Stories. francescasobrer.com
